Do You Need a Wedding Makeup Trial?

Most brides ask me this early. The honest answer is that a trial is useful, not compulsory. It exists to take away uncertainty, not to add another thing to your list. And if you are marrying in Provence from another country, there are calm ways around it.

What a trial is actually for

A trial is a rehearsal for your skin and your look. We test what suits your features, how products sit on your skin, how the colours read in daylight and on camera. By the time your wedding morning arrives, nothing is a question. That is the real value: not the makeup itself, but the certainty.

When a trial matters most

This is the moment to build a routine around your own skin, ideally with a consultation so it is shaped to your skin type rather than guesswork. Begin any regular in-salon treatments you might want, such as a deep-cleansing facial. If LED light therapy interests you, this is when to start, gently, ten minutes three times a week, because the results build over weeks, not days. It is also a sensible time for a first gentle face wax and to choose your manicure style.

Marrying in Provence from abroad

Many of my brides live in London, in Germany, further afield still. A trial in person is not always possible, and that is fine. We can do it when you visit the region before the wedding, the day before during your welcome dinner, or replace it with a video consultation and a careful conversation about your skin and your inspiration. I have looked after brides I met for the first time on their wedding morning, and they were glad they trusted the process.

If you skip the trial

When there is no trial, I build a short consultation into the morning itself. We talk, I read your face, and we agree the look before I begin. A natural, skin-true look carries very little risk. You still feel like yourself, only more so.

A trial is a comfort, not a rule. What matters is that you arrive at your morning without a single worry.
